This is Laphroaig's ten-year-old single malt given an additional spell in sherry casks. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle.
The distillery is known for a smoky, peaty style, and here that character meets the sweeter, fruitier side of sherry oak.
The nose is intensely smoky, with medicinal and tarry notes, sea air and seaweed, and behind them dried fruit, raisins and dark honey. The palate keeps smoke at the front, with salty sea breeze, a mineral edge, sweet raisins, dark chocolate and a little spice. The finish is long, warming, dry and lightly spiced, ending smoky.
