A 12-year-old Laphroaig bottled at cask strength, 56% ABV, in a 70cl bottle for the 2006 Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music. The edition ran to 600 bottles.
The cask was filled in 1994 by John Campbell, then an apprentice at the distillery. The whisky was bottled in 2006 to mark his 12 years of service as the first true Ileach to become Laphroaig's distillery manager.
The nose is clean and powerful, floral and grassy, with sea air, oysters, fern and moss. The palate is smoky and medicinal, with apple juice, violet sweets and liquorice. The finish is long and balanced, on peat and green apple.
