This is Laphroaig 25 Year Old in its 2016 edition, an Islay single malt bottled in 2016 at cask strength, 48.6%, in a 70cl bottle. It is rich and smouldering, with a big coal hit and a lingering seaweed character.
The colour is pale gold. The nose is dry and mineral, with white wine, chalk, butter, cream, coal smoke, hessian and raw wool. The palate is sharp and medicinal, with lemon, grapefruit, brine, oysters and walnuts. The finish is long, leafy and limey, and very smoky.
