This is a 25 year old single malt from Laphroaig on Islay, bottled at cask strength without being reduced with water. It matured in a combination of large Oloroso sherry butts and ex-Bourbon barrels.
The character is that of Laphroaig, peat smoke with a medicinal edge. Creamy vanilla from the American oak sits alongside spiced apple from the sherry casks.
The finish is long and warm. A splash of water or a little ice can be added if the strength feels too much.
