Laphroaig – 35 Year Old Strong Characters (Dugald Johnston Chapter 2)

This 35 year old Laphroaig is the second release in the Strong Characters series, which honours Dugald Johnston. He took responsibility for the distillery after the death of his father, Donald Johnston, in 1847. The series began with Donald in Chapter 1. The whisky was matured in American oak casks, barrels and hogsheads. Artwork for the release was commissioned from the British illustrator Bill Bragg. The nose is sweet, with fresh pastry and apple and cherry fruit. Smokiness and spice open the palate, followed by a creamy mouthfeel and light raisin. The finish carries aniseed and a peppery tingle, fading back to peat smoke.
