Laphroaig – Oak Select (70cl, 40%)

An Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle and sitting alongside the distillery's core range. It is made from whisky taken from several kinds of cask: oloroso sherry butts, white American oak, Pedro Ximenez seasoned hogsheads, quarter casks and first-fill bourbon casks. The nose is classic medicinal peat with citrus and chocolate sweetness over soft barley. On the palate the peat is gentle, letting lemon, green apple and mint come through before darker baking spice develops. The finish is of medium length, with the peat remaining until the end.
