Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is matured twice in American oak: first in ex-bourbon barrels, then in smaller quarter casks.
The smaller casks bring more contact with the oak, which adds a soft, velvety edge to Laphroaig's distinctive peatiness. The quarter cask is a smaller cask size that had fallen out of use before Laphroaig revived it.
The colour is full, sparkling gold. The nose has peat embers in a crofter's fireplace with hints of coconut and banana. The palate is full-bodied, deep and smoky, with a gentle sweetness. The finish is long and dries with smoke and spice.
