The Cask Lore is an Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at 48% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is a vatting of whiskies aged between 7 and 21 years, including parcels dating back to 1993.
Four kinds of cask are used: ex-bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry casks, European oak hogsheads and Laphroaig's quarter casks.
The nose is typically described as pungent peat smoke, seaside minerality and ash, with dark chocolate and a touch of iodine. The palate brings peat, charred malt, bitter dark chocolate and chilli, with some dried fruit. The finish is fairly short and dry, with charred peat and a sweet aftertaste.
