Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024 Cask Favorites is a 10-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at a cask strength of 52.4% in a 70cl bottle. This annual limited release marks 30 years of the Cairdeas series, and Calum Fraser has blended it from casks that recall the 2019 Triple Wood and 2021 PX Cask editions.
The spirit matured in over-charred first and second-fill ex-bourbon barrels and quarter casks, then was finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is bottled without chill-filtration.
The nose offers Brazil nut toffee brittle, vanilla custard and baking spice, with peat smoke beneath. The palate is oily, with smoked orange toffee, stewed peaches, dried fruit and dark chocolate. The finish is long, peppery and peaty, with coffee grounds and liquorice.
