Lost Lantern 2022 Single Cask #2 is an American single malt from Westward Whiskey of Portland, bottled at cask strength, 60.45% ABV. The cask spent 28 months in new oak, then a further 20 months in an Oregon Chardonnay barrique from Dominio IV Wines.
The result is a big malt character lifted by the bright, acidic influence of the Chardonnay, and it reflects the brewing and wine-making culture of the Pacific Northwest.
The nose is wine-forward, with orange tea, white flowers, pears and a hint of toasted pecan. The palate is big and malty with toffee, vanilla, green apple, pear and cinnamon, and the finish is long, with a tiny dash of smoke.
