Lustau Amontillado Los Arcos Solera Reserva (18.5%)

This is a non-vintage Amontillado sherry from Lustau, made in Jerez de la Frontera from 100% Palomino and bottled at 18.5% ABV. It belongs to the Solera Familiar line and ages in American oak casks through a solera and criaderas system at Bodega Emperatriz Eugenia. Biological ageing under flor alternates with oxidative ageing without it. The name refers to a pair of arches that once stood at the winery's entrance. The nose offers toasted hazelnut, almond skin and walnut, with dried apricot, fig and toffee. The palate is medium in weight, with dried orchard fruit, toast and marzipan around a dry, salty core. The finish is long and dry, with nutty tones and a little citrus bitterness.
