Lustau Palo Cortado Peninsula Solera Reserva (19%)

A dry Palo Cortado sherry from Lustau's Solera Familiar line, matured in Jerez de la Frontera at the Bodega Emperatriz Eugenia. It is made from 100% Palomino Fino and sits between Amontillado and Oloroso in style. The wine begins under flor, which later dies off, so ageing continues oxidatively. It is kept in a solera and criaderas system with an average age of around 12 years, and fortified to 19% abv. The nose offers toasted almond, walnut skin, hazelnut, toffee and mocha. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied and dry, with roasted nuts, dark chocolate, espresso and citrus peel. The finish is long and dry, with a saline note.
