Macallan 12 Year Old 110 Proof Sherry Oak is a Speyside single malt bottled at 55%, which is 110 proof in the American system. It was matured for 12 years entirely in sherry-seasoned oak casks, mainly European oak with a smaller share of American oak.
The nose is of sticky dates, cherry compote and warm cinnamon, with cocoa nibs, dried orange and firm oak. The palate is oily, with sultanas, ginger, star anise, mandarin, dark chocolate and roasted espresso beans. The finish is long and warm, with treacle caramel, mocha, dried fruit and spiced oak.
