Macallan 18 Year Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It spent eighteen years maturing in a combination of American and European ex-sherry casks.
The nose combines American oak with vanilla, orange and buttery caramel, then sherry, candied fruit, clove, nutmeg and dry cinnamon spice. On the palate, vanilla meets strong ginger spice and a light saltiness, while orange grows stronger. Sherried wood adds candied and dried fruit without overpowering the full body, and the finish is a bittersweet candied orange.
