Macallan – 1851 Inspiration

Macallan 1851 Inspiration is a Speyside single malt with no age statement, and it has an unusual backstory rooted in the distillery's own history. Macallan bought antique bottles dated 1841, 1851, 1861, 1874 and 1876 and set about producing replicas, right down to the vintage-style flask. Then in 2000, laboratory tests found that 70% of the old bottles were fakes, even though they were believed to be 10 years old. The replicas were dropped. Macallan instead created the Inspiration whiskies, which draw on that story.
