Macallan – 1946-1998 52 Year Old Select Reserve US Import (75cl, 40%)

A distillery bottling of Macallan, a 52 year old Speyside single malt distilled in 1946 and released in 1998. This edition comes in a 750ml bottle at 40%. The 1946 distillation dates from just after the Second World War, when a shortage of coal led Macallan and other distilleries to dry their barley with peat. That gives the whisky a thread of smoky flavour, which is unusual for Macallan.
