This is an 18-year-old Macallan, a Speyside single malt distilled in 1980 and released by the distillery in 1998. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
It dates from a time when everything Macallan bottled was fully matured in Oloroso sherry casks, and it is one of the last official 18-year-old bottlings from that period of the distillery.
The style is old-fashioned sherry: aromatic, earthy and fruity, with a firm backbone from Macallan's thick distillate.
