This is a 21-year-old Macallan from the Fine Oak series, a Speyside single malt released in 2011.
Fine Oak whiskies are matured in three types of cask: European oak sherry casks, American oak sherry casks and American oak bourbon barrels.
The nose is of honey, dried apricot, vanilla, orange zest, soft spices and old oak. The palate is silky and rich, with toffee, honey, tropical fruit, cocoa, citrus oil, light spice and well-integrated sherry sweetness. The finish is long and warmly spicy, with layers of wood and fruit.
