Macallan – 40 Year Old Sherry Cask Bottled 2016 (70cl, 45%)

A limited edition Macallan 40 year old Speyside single malt, bottled by the distillery in 2016 at 45% ABV. Only 500 bottles were released. It began as a batch of sherry casks vatted in 2006 for that year's Macallan 30 year old, then racked into refill butts for marrying. The batch came from 27 casks across nine vintages, the youngest distilled in 1976. Whiskymaker Bob Dalgarno set one marrying butt aside for further maturation at full strength, checked it again in 2011, and left it until 2016 before it was bottled.
