Macallan – Edition No. 1 (70cl, 48%)

Macallan Edition No. 1 is the first release in a series that brings together a different selection of oak cask styles each year. This one draws on eight European and American oak cask styles, and it comes in a wooden box in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. The nose shows orange, apple and dried fruit, with vanilla, toffee and chocolate beneath the oak. On the palate, warming wood spices open first, followed by nutmeg, cinnamon, a little dried ginger and toffee, with fresh, balanced fruit and fresh oak appearing later. The finish is soft and lingering.
