Macallan – M Black Decanter 2018 Release (70cl, 44.8%)

This is the second edition of Macallan M Black, a Speyside single malt released in 2018 and limited to 850 bottles. It was created with creative director Fabien Baron and the French crystal house Lalique, and grew out of Macallan's M Decanter, with black Lalique crystal in place of clear. Each decanter is numbered on its base and comes in a presentation case with a separate crystal stopper. The whisky was matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks and bottled at 44.8%. Macallan's richness and dried fruit are joined by a distinctive thread of peat smoke. Dried fruit, caramel and orange lead into a long smoky finish, with touches of sweet almond and biscuit.
