Maker's Mark 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the distillery in Loretto, bottled at 50.5% ABV (101 proof) in a 75cl bottle.
It uses the same mashbill as the standard Maker's Mark: 70% corn, 16% soft red winter wheat and 14% malted barley. The bourbon is aged for approximately six years in charred American oak barrels, which the distillery rotates by hand between upper and lower levels of its warehouses.
The nose has stone fruit, blackberry jam, brown sugar, orange peel and banana bread. The palate is creamy, with caramel, dark fruit, baking spice, cocktail cherries and toasted oak. The finish is medium to long and mellow, with lingering caramel and a soft spice fade.
