Maker's Mark – 46 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky (70cl, 47%)

Maker's Mark 46 is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 47% ABV, made by the distillery behind Maker's Mark, which has been sold since 1958 and is known for the hand-applied wax that runs down the neck of the bottle. First released in 2010, it starts with fully matured Maker's Mark. This is returned to the barrel with ten lightly toasted French oak staves and left for a further two to three months in a cool cellar. The coopers named it after stave number 46, the one they settled on after many trials. The nose is woody, with caramel and sweetness. The palate is rich and strong, with wood building slowly alongside vanilla and caramel, and the finish is smooth and gently sweet-spiced.
