Malt, Grain & Cane Saudade Irish Whiskey 18 Year Old 2002 (70cl, 50.2%)

Saudade is an 18 year old Irish whiskey from Cooley Distillery, released by Malt, Grain & Cane at 50.2% in a 70cl bottle. It opens the company's Curated Range, a series of collaborations with artists whose work appears on future bottlings. The first collaboration is with the artist Warren Khong, using a privately commissioned piece for the Hampden Pirate from the Portrait series. The name plays on a classic Teresa Teng song title, replacing the word for 'only' with its homophone for 'purple'. Saudade itself is a Portuguese word for a nostalgic, bittersweet longing for something or someone loved.
