This is the Mars Komagatake 40th Anniversary Special Edition, a single malt bottled in 2025 at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The release runs to 5000 bottles.
Tasting notes describe a nose of apple jam, ripe apricot, melon and vanilla, with mature oak, raisin bread, caramel and baked notes, then light smoke and spice. Raisins and maple syrup lead the palate, followed by cinnamon, sweet chestnut, chocolate, almond and gentle oak spice. The finish is medium to long, with sweet chestnut, cocoa, spice and ripe fruit, ending warm and clean.
