Mars Komagatake 6 Year Old 01 Yori Kiri is a Japanese single malt distilled in 2018 and matured for six years at the Komagatake site in an American white oak barrel. That one cask gave 215 bottles at 62.8% abv, in 70cl size, without chill-filtration or added colour.
It is number 01 in the four-part Sumo Collection, named after a sumo technique in which a wrestler forces his opponent out of the ring, and forms part of the Itinéraires collection of La Maison du Whisky. The spirit was made from Concerto malted barley.
The nose combines banana and pineapple with fern, hay, malt and honey. Toffee, ripe pear, apple and medlar follow on the palate, and the finish is led by liquorice.
