A Japanese single malt from Mars, bottled at cask strength as a limited edition to mark the revival of the distillery in 2011, after production had stopped in 1992.
This is a three year old whisky, lightly peated to 8 ppm and matured in a bourbon cask. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose brings ripe pear, apple blossom and lemon peel, with honey, toasted oak and a slightly bubblegum note. Candied citrus, vanilla and a little ginger lead the palate, with a faint smoky undertone. The finish is long and warming, with caramel, roasted nuts and a hint of pepper.
