Mars The Y.A. #01 is a blended malt Japanese whisky and the first release of a new Mars brand built around ageing on Yakushima island. It is vatted mainly from malt distilled at the Mars Shinshu and Mars Tsunuki distilleries and aged in bourbon barrels. The brand sits alongside Komagatake and Tsunuki, and follows earlier Yakushima-aged bottlings under those names. It has a fruity, tropical aroma, and a flavour that recalls sea breezes from the coast and its coral reefs, along with the scent of Yakushima itself.
