Matsui – Daisen Mizunara Cask (70cl, 48%)

This is a Japanese whisky from Matsui, made in Tottori Prefecture and sold in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It is called Daisen Mizunara Cask, and the name points to its maturation. The whisky is aged entirely in Mizunara oak, a rare Japanese wood associated with a deep, sandalwood-like aroma. In the glass, the nose brings coconut and sandalwood. The palate offers dried fruit sweetness with a complex, incense-like character, and the finish is long and lingering.
