This is a five-year-old peated Speyside single malt from GlenAllachie, part of its Meikle Tòir smoked range. It is bottled at 48% ABV, without chill-filtering or added colour.
The barley was dried with mainland peat from St. Fergus to 35 PPM, which gives a sweeter style of smoke, and fermentation ran for 160 hours. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, then finished in Chinquapin virgin oak barrels.
The nose has glowing oak twigs, burnt liquorice and gingerbread, with wild heather, ginger, caramel and orange peel. The palate offers dark chocolate, crème brûlée, roasted almonds, cinnamon, crisp caramel, aniseed and bonfire smoke.
