Meikle Tòir The Original Peated Speyside Single Malt (70cl, 50%)

This is a peated Speyside single malt from The GlenAllachie, made under the Meikle Tòir name, which is Gaelic for 'big pursuit'. The Original is the flagship of the range, in a 70cl bottle at 50%. The malted barley is dried over mainland peat from St Fergus, used wet, and the whisky is matured in bourbon and rye barrels and American virgin oak. It reaches 35 ppm and has a profile of baking spices, roasted honey and sweet peat smoke. The nose has cedar wood and cigar box, butterscotch, mocha and orange peel, with a hint of honey and plum jam. The palate brings rich dark chocolate, smoked honey and mocha, then fig syrup, treacle and burnt sugar, with a touch of peat smoke in the aftertaste.
