A Kentucky straight bourbon from Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery in Louisville, bottled at 45.7% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
Each batch is made from no more than about twenty full barrels. The spirit comes off the still at 138 proof and is reduced to 103 before it goes into new charred American oak, well below the legal maximum of 125.
The nose is brown sugar and vanilla with baked apple, dried apricot and a little cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate is bright and caramel-sweet, with brown butter, stone fruit, licorice and roasted oak. The finish is medium, with dry oak, roasted coffee bean and fading vanilla.
