This is a sour mash whiskey from Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. It is made from a selection of grains, aged in new American white oak barrels and bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof). In 2019 it was named Whisky of the Year by The Whisky Exchange, the first American whiskey to receive the award.
The nose is caramel, vanilla and warm grain sweetness. The palate is smooth and balanced, with caramel and vanilla from the oak alongside the grain. The finish is long and clean, with wood spice and sweetness.
