Michter's – US*1 Small Batch Sour Mash Whiskey (51.5%)

Michter's US*1 Small Batch Sour Mash is an American whiskey bottled at 51.5% ABV. Part of the previously fermented mash is used as a starter for each new batch, a method likened to making sourdough bread. Its grain mix means it can be classed as neither a rye nor a bourbon. The whiskey was off the market between 1989 and 2012, before returning within the Michter's US*1 range. The aromas are warm toasted sugar with spice, sweet smoky fruit, candied cherries and honey-vanilla. The finish is long and dry with spice. It is said to begin like a bourbon and end like a rye.
