Michter's – US*1 Toasted Barrel Strength Rye (70cl)

Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Strength Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey bottled at cask strength, in a 70cl bottle. The strength varies from batch to batch, at roughly 54 to 58%. It begins as Michter's barrel strength rye and then has a second maturation in specially toasted barrels. The toasting brings out caramelised sugars and a velvety sweetness to sit alongside the rye's natural spice. The nose has toasted oak, dark chocolate, caramel and citrus zest. On the palate there is toffee, baking spice and roasted nuts, with the peppery kick of rye, and the finish is long, with sweet spice, charred oak and orange peel.
