New Riff 8 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey (50%)

New Riff 8 Year Old is a Kentucky bourbon from New Riff Distilling, bottled unfiltered at 50% ABV (100 proof). It is the distillery's first age-stated core bourbon. The mash bill is 65% corn, 30% rye and 5% malted barley, distilled in a copper column still, barrelled at 110 proof and aged for eight years or more. Because the barrels come from two distilling seasons, it is not Bottled-in-Bond, though it meets the other bonded criteria. The nose has caramel custard, cherry, apricot, blackberry, vanilla and oak char, with a hint of pipe tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied, with juicy berries, toasted oak, sweet cream butter and rye spice. The finish is moderately long, with brown sugar, leather, black cherry and cinnamon.
