Nikka Discovery Miyagikyo Aromatic Yeast Bottled 2022 (70cl, 47%)

This is a Japanese single malt from Nikka's Miyagikyo, bottled in 2022 at 47% in a 70cl bottle. It is an unpeated counterpart to the peated Miyagikyo released in 2021. It is made with yeasts chosen to bring out delicately fruity aromas and flavours, on a deeply malty base. The colour is bright gold. The nose offers lavender, marshmallow and malted barley, then comté, peach, pear and apricot. On the palate are barley field and fern, brioche, white peach and pear with acacia honey. The finish is long and silky, with herbal tea, a little salt and fresh ginger.
