Nikka Discovery Miyagikyo Aromatic Yeast Single Malt 2022 (70cl, 47%)

This is an unpeated single malt from Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery, bottled in 2022 at 47% in a 70cl bottle. It follows the peated Miyagikyo release of 2021. The whisky is made with yeasts chosen to encourage delicately fruity aromas and flavours, on top of a deeply malty base. The nose combines lavender, marshmallow and malted barley with comté, meadow flowers, peach, pear and apricot, then vanilla, coconut milk and lemon meringue. The palate is herbaceous at first, then brioche, white peach, pear and acacia honey. The finish is long and silky, with sage, camomile and verbena, a touch of salt and fresh ginger.
