Nikka Frontier (50cl, 48%)

Nikka Frontier is a Japanese blended whisky bottled at 48% ABV in a 50cl bottle. It is built around peated single malt from the Yoichi distillery, and malt makes up 51% of the blend. The name looks back to Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka, who set out for Scotland in 1918. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose combines fruity marmalade-style notes with rich malt and a pleasant smokiness. On the palate it is soft and round, with ripe fruit, gentle sweetness and a balanced peat note. The finish is long, with soft oak, light sweetness and a little smoke.
