Nikka Miyagikyo 2000's (70cl, 57%)

Miyagikyo 2000's is a vatted single malt from Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery in Miyagi, Japan. It is made only from malt whiskies distilled between 2000 and 2009, matured in bourbon and sherry casks, and bottled at 57% in a 70cl bottle. The whiskies were aged for at least nine years, and depending on the bottling year some components were between 10 and 19 years old. It was first released in 2014. Fresh apple and grape aromas sit alongside a gentle malt sweetness. In the glass, the nose brings apple, grape, pineapple and lime over sweet malt. The palate is ripe and fruity, with caramel, honey, orange peel, bitter chocolate and roasted barley. The finish is long and brandy-like, with cask wood and a little peat.
