Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt

Nikka Miyagikyo is a Japanese single malt from Nikka's second distillery, built in 1969 in the mountains near Sendai by founder Masataka Taketsuru. It is distilled in pot stills heated by indirect steam, and uses less peated malt. The result is an elegant, fruity whisky with a distinctive aroma and strong notes from sherry casks. The nose combines malted barley, exotic fruit, liquorice and banana. On the palate, lively malted barley sits with liquorice, chocolate and spice. The finish is long and soft, with lemon and grapefruit alongside tobacco, cardamom and ginger.
