Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt, bottled at 43% with no age statement. It is a blend of single malts from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries, and this is the newest edition of a whisky first launched in 2020. The nose has a little more smoke than might be expected, with notes of good apple cider, juicy pear, grapefruit and old oak casks. The palate is round and balanced, with a medium-full, oily texture, mild peat smoke, cardamom and candied fruit. The finish is long.
