Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a blended malt from Japan, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It brings together Yoichi sherry casks with Miyagikyo sherry and remade casks.
It was launched in the year of the 100th anniversary of the marriage of Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru and his Scottish wife Rita.
The nose offers lemon, coconut, chocolate and a very light, salty peat, with cut grass and vanilla emerging as it opens. On the palate, salty peat sits beneath apple, pear, lilac and lily, and the finish is honeyed and spiced with cinnamon and chestnut.
