Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt (70cl, 43%)

Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese vatted malt in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV, named after Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky. It combines malt from two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. The key malts are sherry cask-matured Yoichi and Miyagikyo, along with Miyagikyo matured in remade casks. Yoichi's coal-fired direct distillation gives a powerful taste, balanced by the soft, floral Miyagikyo malt. The aim was a malt as easy to drink as a blend. It is described as having a smooth, luscious mouthfeel, floral and fruity aromas, rich malt sweetness and a gently lingering finish.
