Nikka Yoichi 10 Year Old is a Japanese single malt in a 70cl bottle, made from malt whiskies distilled and aged for at least 10 years in oak casks.
The distillery uses direct charcoal toasting, a method Nikka's founder, Masataka Taketsuru, brought back from a visit to Scotland.
The nose is fresh and herbal, with dried fruit, ripe banana and malted grain, plus black pepper and peat smoke. The palate is crisp and smooth, with custard, smoky oak and a touch of peat, leading to a long, warm, spicy and woody finish.
