Nulu Reserve Toasted Barrel is a barrel-proof straight bourbon bottled at 57.3% ABV without chill filtration. The whisky was sourced from MGP in Indiana and finished by Prohibition Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky.
It is made from a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, aged four to six years in new charred American oak. It then spends one to four weeks in freshly toasted barrels, with each batch tasted along the way to decide when to stop.
The nose is caramelised sugar, vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate are vanilla, toffee, toasted marshmallow and maple, then baking spices, dark chocolate and dark fruit. The finish is long and warm, with toasted marshmallow, charred oak and baking spice.
