Old Charter Oak Chinkapin Oak 9 Year Old (75cl)

This is a nine year old Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace, part of the Old Charter Oak series, which explores how different oak species shape bourbon. Here the barrels are made from Chinkapin oak rather than American white oak, with the staves air-dried for two years before the barrels were built. It is described as a light, aromatic bourbon with a delicate, fruit-forward sweetness. The nose offers cherries, spearmint, fresh herbs and a gentle honey sweetness. The palate is fresh, with herbs, honey and light fruit. The finish brings warm baking spices and dark chocolate, ending with a cooling note of spearmint.
