A blended straight bourbon from Old Elk Distillery in Fort Collins, Colorado, bottled at 44% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The mashbill is 51% corn, 34% malted barley and 15% rye, which holds far more malted barley than most bourbons. The distillery also uses its own Slow Cut proofing, adding water over several weeks rather than the usual 24 to 48 hours. It won Gold at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose brings toasted almonds, vanilla, caramel, clove and a light maple note. The palate is soft and creamy, with honeyed grains, chocolate malt, coconut and almond. The finish is medium, with chocolate, toasted grain and baking spice.
