Old Elk Four Grain Straight Bourbon (75cl, 53%)

Old Elk Four Grain is a Colorado straight bourbon bottled at 52.95% in a 750ml bottle. It is made at Old Elk Distillery in Fort Collins. Rather than using a single mashbill, the distillery distils two bourbons separately, a high-malt rye recipe and a wheated recipe, and matures each for six to seven years before marrying them. Together they work out at 51% corn, 22.5% wheat, 19% malted barley and 7.5% rye. The nose offers ripe cherry, banana, toasted vanilla and almond. On the palate come maple, toffee, berry candy, chocolate and cinnamon, and the finish is dry and oaky, with dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla.
