Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is an annual release marking the birthday of company founder George Garvin Brown. This 11 year old Kentucky straight bourbon was distilled in 2015 and bottled at 97 proof, in a 70cl bottle.
It was drawn from 212 barrels from Warehouse B, Floor 3, which Old Forester identifies as the oldest warehouse at Brown-Forman's Shively distillery. The new make stayed in the cistern room for six days over a holiday weekend, and tank venting lowered the entry proof to 124.4 from the usual 125. According to Old Forester, this helped give the bourbon a distinctly sweet and fruity profile.
